Reception Home Learning W/B 01/02/21

Hello Everyone!

This week our focus will be on both Our Local Area, and Children’s Mental Health week. We will be looking at different places we go to in our local village of Grimsargh, as well as different parts of the school and creating our dream school and village! We will also be focusing on our Personal, Social and Emotional Development for Children’s Mental Health Week, which is particularly important in these strange times. We will be doing lots of activities related to this – there is a link below to access lots of resources, however I will also put them on the home learning plan below too under Topic, for when we are doing this at school/on which day.  And finally, in Maths, we will be looking at the composition of 6, 7 and 8.

Monday 1st February there is a virtual assembly at 9am to discuss Children’s Mental Health Week and the theme “Express Yourself”. Click on this link to join with us!: https://classroom.thenational.academy/assemblies As well as this assembly at 9am, we will be having our KS1 Worship at 9:45am. The link for this will be on Seasaw on Monday morning. We hope to see you at both of these assemblies 🙂

Friday 5th February is “Dress to Impress” day, so if you are at school or at home, please wear a colourful outfit! We are experts on colours and emotions now after focusing on The Colour Monster last week. “The idea is simple– use colour to express yourself on the Friday of Children’s Mental Health Week by wearing a colourful outfit. Our lives are full of colour and we can use colour to help make sense of how we’re feeling, who we are and the world we live in. You could wear your favourite colour or choose a range of colours that express how you’re feeling. Colour can be very personal and mean different things to different people, so this is a great opportunity to encourage self-expression and celebrate a diverse range of emotions.”

More information about Mental Health Week, and the Dress to Impress fundraiser, can be found here: Children’s Mental Health Week

Please find below our home learning for this week. As usual, Phonics, Literacy/Topic and Maths will be posted for each day on here. As well as this, several videos are posted each day to Seasaw which include our P.E., R.E. and Art activities throughout the week. See below for Continuous Provision ideas that you can replicate at home too.

Have a wonderful week everyone!

Miss Lemmings 🙂 x

Literacy/Topic

Monday: Firstly we will read the story of “Here We Are” to think about the world we live in! Then, we will look at our local area of Grimsargh – thank you to everyone who sent me photos, you may see your faces in here! From there, we will use the pictures to make a brief map of Grimsargh and label the places 🙂 Story Loom: https://www.loom.com/share/0da6fa99218544af80fa8822bb5c32a6 Today’s activity Loom, you might recognise some of these places in Grimsargh!: https://www.loom.com/share/851e130726144885805963d138d00a93 Pictures of Grimsargh for your map! Don’t worry if you don’t have a printer, you could always draw a picture map instead 🙂 Pictures of Grimsargh

Wednesday: (Live Zoom 1:30pm) Today we will be looking at pictures of our school after walking round and taking photos! Photos of our school: Our school areas  We will have a look at the story of “You Choose”, to help us use our imagination and think about how things could be different at school and in our lives if we imagine it! The story of You Choose Loom: https://www.loom.com/share/ebe209d173e344bc83d92d91cf31c306 We will then choose an idea of a feature of our “dream school”, draw a picture and write a short sentence using our finger spaces and phonics to sound our words out. Worksheet: My dream school would have.. See Seasaw on Wednesday after our Zoom call for examples to help you! 🙂

Thursday: For Children’s Mental Health week, we will be thinking about our likes, dislikes and ideas through a circle time discussion! Follow this link to watch my explanation: https://www.loom.com/share/b4f7d9e2a84a48f4b3cc27ccc68b8298 You could have this discussion as a family at home, and note down any ideas (A grown-up could note them down, you could draw them, or do a video of your ideas!)

Friday: We will be thinking more about the theme “Express yourself”. Have a look at this presentation here for a discussion! Express Yourself Presentation My favourite way to express myself is through music and dancing! So for our last activity of the week, we will be looking at how music makes us feel! It’s explained in this video: https://bit.ly/2GjLRMW and listen to this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKpVM9QQzIs, does it make you feel happy or want to dance? 🙂 I would love to hear your thoughts!
