At Grimsargh St Michael’s, pupils are encouraged to think deeply about issues of justice, equality and human dignity. Through leadership opportunities, discussion and reflection, they develop the confidence to use their voices to make a positive difference.
Blackburn Diocese Equity, Diversity and Justice Conference
Two Year 6 pupils represented our school at the Blackburn Diocese Equity, Diversity and Justice Conference. Through workshops and discussion, they explored themes of equity, diversity and justice, developing their understanding of courageous advocacy and how they can inspire positive change within school and beyond. They returned to school with new ideas and perspectives, helping to promote our vision of inclusion, respect and valuing every individual.

At Grimsargh St Michael’s, courageous advocacy means recognising the needs of others, speaking up for those whose voices may not always be heard and taking action to make a positive difference.
Harvest Appeal
After learning about poverty and homelessness, pupils led worship, prayer and fundraising activities to support Preston Food Bank, Fox Street Shelter and members of our parish. Through their actions, they encouraged our school community to respond with compassion and generosity.
Tackling Loneliness
Year 3 explored the importance of caring for older members of our community and created cards, letters and artwork for local care home residents. Their thoughtful messages helped residents feel valued, connected and remembered.
Bringing Comfort to Others
Year 4 designed cards and artwork for children staying on the Children’s Ward at Royal Preston Hospital. Recognising that a hospital stay can be challenging, pupils took action to offer encouragement and spread joy.
Sharing Kindness
Year 6 created Pebble Pics with uplifting messages and artwork to support wellbeing and spread positivity throughout the local community.
Caring for God’s Creation
Reception and Year 5 worked with the Village Green Team to build bug hotels and support local biodiversity. Through this project, pupils learned how small actions can help care for the environment and protect God’s world for future generations.

A young patient at Royal Preston Hospital received one of Year 4’s cards. Her parents contacted school to thank the pupils, sharing the comfort and joy their thoughtful message brought during a difficult time.
