Reception Class And Key Stage One Reading Café

Our pupils invited parents, carers, grandparents and members of the community to our Reading Café, creating a warm and welcoming space to share stories together. With books, cushions, blankets and refreshments, the children encouraged everyone to relax and enjoy quality time reading.

Recognising that not everyone has the same opportunities to read together at home, the pupils helped create an inclusive environment where all felt valued and connected. Inspired by “Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practise hospitality” (Romans 12:13), they promoted a love of reading while strengthening our sense of community.

Harvest Courageous Advocacy

Our Harvest service was a powerful example of courageous advocacy in action, as pupils from across the school used both their voices and actions to respond to the needs of others. Through readings, prayers and reflections, they demonstrated a growing understanding of the challenges faced by people experiencing poverty and homelessness, and showed a determination to make a difference.

Inspired by the words, “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves” (Proverbs 31:8), the children led worship with confidence and purpose, encouraging our community to act with compassion and fairness. Their efforts helped to raise awareness as well as practical support, with generous donations shared with Preston Food Bank, members of our parish and Fox Street Shelter.

We are proud of how our pupils are developing as courageous advocates, recognising injustice, showing empathy, and taking meaningful action to support others in our community.

Letting Our Light Shine

This Christmas, our pupils showed by designing and sharing heartfelt cards with parishioners, spreading kindness and joy within our community. Inspired by “Let your light shine before others” (Matthew 5:16), they demonstrated compassion and care for others.

Parishioners were also invited to our KS1 Christmas performance, where they enjoyed refreshments and were deeply touched by the children’s thoughtful messages. We are proud of how our pupils continue to inspire, achieve and believe within our loving Christian community.
