Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

At Grimsargh St Michael’s Church of England Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that every child is known, valued and supported to reach their full potential.

Rooted in our Christian vision,“Inspiring, Believing and Achieving in our Loving Christian Community”, we believe that every child is uniquely created and infinitely valued by God. We are proud to be an inclusive school where all pupils are welcomed, supported and encouraged to flourish academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.

We work closely with parents, carers and external professionals to identify and remove barriers to learning, ensuring that pupils with SEND receive the right support at the right time.

Our Approach

We provide a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum for all pupils through:

  • high-quality adaptive teaching in every classroom;
  • a graduated approach of Assess, Plan, Do, Review;
  • targeted support and interventions where needed;
  • specialist advice and support from external agencies;
  • close partnership with families;
  • meaningful pupil participation and voice;
  • high expectations for every child.

Our provision is guided by the principles that every pupil should:

  • feel safe, valued and included;
  • be supported to achieve their best;
  • access the full life of the school;
  • develop independence, confidence and resilience;
  • experience success and flourish within our school community.

Admissions

The local authority, as the coordinating body for admissions, will require professional supporting evidence if admission is to be made under the criterion for special medical or social circumstances.

Such evidence must set out the particular reasons why Grimsargh St Michael’s C of E Primary School is the most suitable school and the difficulties which would be caused if the child had to attend another school.
